Setting up your first program
Create the class program everything else in the app hangs off — including its monthly rate.
A program is a class offering — "Kids Karate", "Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu", "Little Tigers". It is the first thing to create in a new studio, because almost everything else in Dojo Tiger attaches to one: schedule entries, belt ranks, enrollments, tuition, gear lists and video access all point at a program.
Create it
Open the programs screen
Go to Classes then Programs and click Add Program.
Fill in the fields
Field Notes Program Name Required. This is the name families see on your registration page, so use the name you'd say out loud. Min Age / Max Age Optional. Shown to families next to the program name as "(Ages 5-12)". It is guidance, not a restriction — nothing stops an out-of-range student being enrolled. Monthly Rate ($) Optional, but see below. The standard monthly tuition for this program. Description (optional) A sentence or two, shown on the registration form and on your public website. Save
The program appears in the list straight away, marked Active.
Create one program per thing a family would sign up for separately. If two age groups train at different times but are the same class, that is one program with two schedule entries — not two programs.
What the monthly rate is for
Monthly Rate is the default tuition for anyone enrolled in this program. It is not a price list entry; it is the number the rest of the app falls back to.
When Dojo Tiger works out what a particular student is charged, it takes the first of these that applies:
- A manual rate set on that specific enrollment
- An active promotion
- A sibling discount tier
- The program's monthly rate
That resolved figure is what the enrollment list shows, what the tuition report counts, and what a monthly subscription is created for — so it is worth setting even if you collect money outside the app, because the financial reports use it.
Leaving it blank is fine if the program genuinely has no standard price. The enrollment will just show no rate until one is set on it directly.
Changing the rate later
Editing a program's monthly rate changes what the app expects to collect. It does not re-price a student who is already on monthly billing — that subscription keeps the amount it was created with until someone syncs it to the current rate, and the new amount then applies from the next renewal.
Active and inactive
Every program is either Active or Inactive, toggled with the Deactivate / Activate button on its card. Inactive programs disappear from your public registration page, so families can't sign up for them. Existing enrollments, ranks and history are untouched — deactivating is how you retire a class you might bring back, and it is always preferable to deleting.
What to do next
With a program created, these become possible:
- Classes then Schedule — add the weekly class times for it. Sessions, and therefore attendance, come from these.
- Students then Ranks — build the belt ladder for it. Rank ladders are per-program, so a student in two programs holds two ranks.
- Studio then QR Code — your registration link now has something on it for families to choose.
Come back and add the rest of your programs whenever you like; nothing about the first one has to be finished before the second one exists.
