Paying your studio

Adding a card, paying tuition and event fees, monthly billing, receipts and refunds — from the family side.

Not every studio collects money through Dojo Tiger. If yours doesn't, your Payments page will be mostly empty and you should keep paying however you already do.

If yours does, everything is on one page: Payments in your sidebar. If you have more than one child, each block repeats per child.

Adding a card

Payment methodsAdd a card.

That takes you to Stripe's own secure page to enter the card, and brings you back when you're done. Card numbers never pass through your studio's software — not this page, and not any screen the front desk can see. Staff can see the brand, the last four digits and the expiry date, and nothing else.

You can save more than one card, and remove any of them.

Only you can add a card

There is no way for the studio to add a card on your behalf, even with your permission over the phone. If they've asked you for one, they need you to add it here.

If you've had an email titled "Add a card to keep your child's spot", that's the link — it brings you straight to this page, and sets up your login too if you don't have one yet.

Paying for something

Make a payment lists anything payable right now, each with its own Pay button and a badge saying what it is:

  • Tuition — one month of a program your child is enrolled in.
  • Event — a belt test, seminar or tournament that costs money.

Pressing Pay takes you to Stripe's checkout, where you pay by card. Event items disappear from the list once they're paid.

You don't have to have a saved card to pay this way — checkout takes card details directly.

Monthly billing

If your studio has set you up on monthly tuition, a Monthly billing card shows one line per program:

  • the program's name;
  • Renews 3 Sep 2026 — the date of your next charge;
  • the amount, e.g. $95.00/mo;
  • a status: Active, Past due, or Paused.

If it says Ends rather than Renews, your studio has already scheduled it to stop on that date.

A child in two programs is billed twice, once per program, so you'll see two lines and two charges on your statement. That's expected.

You can't cancel or pause it yourself

There's no cancel button, and that's deliberate — your studio starts and stops monthly billing, the same way they'd handle a paper direct debit form.

To change or stop it, ask your studio. Removing your saved card is not a way to cancel: it just makes the payment fail, which lands as an overdue notice on their side and doesn't end anything.

When a payment fails

Cards expire and banks decline. If a monthly payment fails:

  • your bank usually tells you;
  • Stripe retries the card automatically over the following couple of weeks;
  • your studio gets one email about it.

If you know the card has changed, add the new one here and tell the studio, so they can point your monthly billing at it. Adding a card doesn't switch your monthly billing over on its own.

Your child stays on the roster throughout. A failed payment never takes them off a class list.

Payment history

Every payment, newest first: what it was for, the date, the amount, a status badge, and a Receipt link where one is available. Refunds show as a line under the original charge.

Refunds

Your studio issues refunds; there's no request button here. Ask them, and if they agree, the money goes back to the card you paid with — usually within five to ten business days, depending on your bank.

The row in your history changes to Refunded or Partly refunded, with the amount that went back.

Discounts

If your studio has given you a sibling discount, a promotion or a special rate, it's applied to your monthly billing — the amount on the Monthly billing card is the discounted one.

The one-off Pay button for tuition charges the program's standard price rather than your discounted rate. If you're on a discount and want to pay a month by hand, ask the studio to take it instead so you're charged the right amount.

Questions your studio has to answer, not us

  • What you're being charged and why.
  • Whether a discount applies to you.
  • Starting, pausing or stopping monthly billing.
  • Refunds.

Everything on this page is your studio's decision. The software just carries it out.
