Registration questions

The extra questions on your sign-up form — the four types, and where the answers end up.

Registration questions are the extra things you ask a new family that Dojo Tiger does not ask for by default — medical conditions, previous experience, t-shirt size, whatever is on your paper form today.

They are appended to the bottom of your public registration form, under the heading Additional Questions, and the answers are stored against the registration.

Studio then Questions is the screen.

The four question types

  1. Add Question

    Studio then QuestionsAdd Question.

  2. Write the question

Question Text, up to 500 characters. Write it the way you would say it out loud — it appears verbatim as the field's label.

  3. Pick a type

    TypeWhat the family sees
    Free TextA single-line text box.
    Yes / NoTwo radio buttons.
Multiple ChoiceRadio buttons — exactly one answer.
Select All That ApplyTick boxes — any number of answers.

The two choice types need at least two options, added one line at a time with Add Option. Fewer than two and the save is refused.

  4. Required, or not

Tick Required and the family cannot submit the form without answering. Required questions show a red asterisk next to the label.

Keep the list short

Every question you add is another thing between a prospect standing in your lobby with their phone and a completed registration. Ask what you genuinely need on day one; anything you can find out at the first class is better asked at the first class.

Editing and removing

Each row shows the question text, a badge naming its type, a Required badge if it is required, and its options if it has any.

  • Edit opens the question in place. You can change the text, the type, the options and the required flag.
  • Remove takes it off the registration form.

Removing a question keeps the answers already given

Remove hides the question from the form; it does not delete anything a family has already told you. Answers stay on the registrations that carry them and are still shown on the Custom Questions card of the registration detail page.

Changing a question's text is different — there is no version history here, so old answers end up displayed under the new wording. If a question changes meaning rather than just phrasing, remove it and add a new one.

Where the answers go

A family's answers appear on the registration detail page — Students then Registrations → click a row → Custom Questions — listed as question and answer.

They are not shown on the student detail page, not searchable, and not exported in any report. Registration questions are for the conversation you have when a family joins, not for data you need to query later.

Ordering

New questions are added to the end of the list, and the family sees them in the order they appear here. There are no reorder controls on this screen today, so add them in the order you want them asked.

What questions do not do

  • They are not asked again for a second child. Each registration is its own form, so a parent registering two children answers them twice.
  • They are not part of the shorter form a signed-in parent gets when adding another student — that form asks them too, so the answers are collected either way.
  • They cannot be conditional. There is no "only ask this if they answered yes".
