Gear lists
Your studio's equipment list, and an honest account of what it does and does not reach today.
Gear is a plain list of the equipment your studio uses — gi, belt, mouthguard, shin pads, sparring gloves — with an optional line of description each.
Gear is the screen. It is a top-level item in the sidebar, not inside a group.
Adding an item
Add Gear Item
Gear → Add Gear Item.
Name and description
- Name — up to 100 characters. "Gi", "Belt", "16oz Sparring Gloves".
- Description (optional) — up to 500 characters. The place to record the detail that saves a phone call: which colour is allowed, which brand you stock, whether it is required from day one or from the first grading.
Create
It appears in the list, sorted alphabetically by name, marked Active.
Each row offers Edit and Deactivate / Activate. There is no delete — deactivating is how you retire an item you no longer use, and it keeps the record of what you used to require.
What gear does today, honestly
The gear list is an internal reference, and nothing more
Gear items are not shown on your registration form, not shown on your public website, not visible to families in their own view, and not attached to programs anywhere in the interface. Nothing is priced, nothing is sold, and no stock is tracked.
Right now this screen is a tidy place for staff to keep the studio's kit list so everyone at the front desk answers "what does my kid need?" the same way.
That is worth saying plainly, because the screen looks like the beginning of a shop and is not one. If you sell equipment, you sell it the way you do now; if a program requires particular kit, put it in the program's Description, which is shown to families on the registration form and on your website.
How studios actually use it
- A front-desk reference. Names and descriptions written once, so the answer to "which mouthguard?" is the same from every staff member.
- A starting point for a printed handout. Everything a new family needs, in one place, ready to copy into whatever you give them on day one.
- A record of what changed. Deactivate the old glove spec rather than editing it, and the list shows what you used to require.
If you want gear to reach families today, the two places that genuinely do reach them are the program description (Setting up your first program) and an announcement.
