Check-in codes, ranks and progress

Your child's kiosk check-in code, their belt ranks, attendance and milestones.

Two things families ask about most after payments: how a child checks in at the studio, and where to see how they're getting on. Both live on your child's page, under My Students.

The kiosk check-in code

Many studios have a tablet by the door. Students check themselves in on it at the start of class, which is what fills in the attendance your child's page shows.

Your child's code is on their page, under Kiosk check-in code. It's hidden behind a Show button so it isn't sitting on screen in a waiting room.

Worth doing once

Show your child their code and get them to check themselves in a few times. After that it's automatic, and you stop being the person who has to be there for it.

If they forget it or you want a new one, ask the front desk — the studio can look it up and change it. You can't change it yourself.

What checking in looks like

The tablet is set up by staff once, and after that it's the students' screen. Your child:

  1. taps in their check-in code — or, if they've forgotten it, taps Forgot your code? Search by name and finds themselves;
  2. sees "Hi Jordan!" — their own first name and today's class;
  3. taps to confirm.

That's it. Nothing on the kiosk shows other families' details, and nothing on it takes payment.

If the kiosk says there's no class

Three different messages, and they mean three different things:

What it saysWhat it means
"Your class isn't open for check-in yet — check-in opens 1 hour before class starts."They're early. Come back closer to the time.
"Your class for today has already ended."The class is over — see the front desk to be marked present.
"No classes scheduled for you today."Nothing today for the programs they're enrolled in.

The third one occasionally means the enrollment isn't set up as you expect. If your child definitely has a class, the front desk can check.

Ranks

Your child's current rank in each program is on their page. Ranks are per program, so a child training in two disciplines holds two.

Promotions are recorded by the studio when they happen, and the history stays with your child. If a recent grading isn't showing, give it a day and then ask — it's a manual step somebody has to do.

Attendance

Recent Attendance on your child's page lists the classes they've been marked present at.

Attendance comes from either the kiosk or an instructor marking the register, so a missing class usually means one of those didn't happen rather than that your child wasn't there. The front desk can add it.

Milestones

Your dashboard shows a Milestones block per child: total classes attended, and a progress bar towards the next milestone — "6 more to reach 50!".

It counts recorded attendance, so it moves when the register does.

Enrolled programs

Enrolled Programs on your child's page shows what they're enrolled in and the status of each:

  • Active — training now, on the class rosters.
  • Suspended — temporarily paused, usually agreed with the studio. Monthly payments are paused too, if you're on them.
  • Inactive — finished. Their history stays.

Only the studio can change these.

Events and grading

Belt tests and gradings appear under Events, along with tournaments, seminars and parties. RSVP for each child from the event card.

Some cost money, marked with an amber price badge, and are paid from your Payments page — see Paying your studio. RSVPing and paying are separate steps, so do both.
